Description: Hip Hop music that encourages, enlightens, and empowers people. |
Biography: From Little Rock, Arkansas, Ruben Evans, also known as D.A. G.I.F.T., is a new voice emerging in the Gospel Rap industry. This loving husband and father found his love for rap late in his teen years. During his senior year of high school, he followed mainstream Hip Hop and started to do street rap with his best friend. Shortly after, he began rapping in his best friend's church where they formed a 4-man group called The Royal Family. Even though D.A. G.I.F.T. was praising God with his talent every youth Sunday, he still sought the world's pleasures through clubbing, fornication, and pornography.
After many times of feeling convicted, D.A. G.I.F.T. finally decided to let the Lord fully into his life. It was at this same time of 2003 where he enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserves to pay for college. The Royal Family released their mixtape shortly before D.A. G.I.F.T.'s departure to basic training. From there, he focused on school and his career but never fully committed to his calling. He served his country overseas in 2005 where he met his future wife, Tamia. However, it was not until a year later he realized he had to fully answer the call on his life.
D.A. G.I.F.T. started back rapping and ministered in a church he was a member of in Louisiana. In 2007, he and his wife moved back to Arkansas where he continued to pursue his bachelor's degree. All the while, D.A. G.I.F.T. still kept rapping. Finally in 2012, D.A. G.I.F.T. released his very first Gospel Rap LP titled, "The Coming." He now serves as the assistant youth pastor at his church, Evangelistic Ministries Church, where he has been a member for the past five years. D.A. G.I.F.T. continues to speak a message of grace and truth, and through his struggles, he hopes we all get to know about the God he serves before it's too late.
